Sex and the City 2

My favorite ladies are back on the big screen via Sex and the City 2. It is already shown in the US and will ne shown here next week. I love each lady’s fashion sense (the shoes!!) and of course I am so looking forward to seeing my man again, Mr. Big. The reviews I’ve read are not really positive but I still want to watch. Problem is, Ane made me choose between this one and Eclipse. You bet I can’t decide just yet!

Top 13 Most Visited Sites on the Web according to Google

Google compiled the data of the most visited sites for the benefit of advertisers who opt to purchase ads exclusively. Here is the Top 13 on the list of 1000:

  1. facebook.com
  2. yahoo.com
  3. live.com
  4. wikipedia.org
  5. msn.com
  6. microsoft.com
  7. blogspot.com
  8. baidu.com
  9. qq.com
  10. mozilla.com
  11. sina.com.cn
  12. wordpress.com
  13. bing.com

The list however did not include adult sites, ad networks and private domains for obvious reasons.

Investing in Gold

Have you ever considered investing in gold? If not, maybe you should at this time. A lot of investors consider gold as the most important commodity, the value of which is high and is not likely to deplete anytime soon. An ideal investment portfolio, analysts says would be to have at least 5% gold included. Consider to buy gold coins for long-term investment because it is a stable precious metal which means it is a sound decision and the return in investment is likely to increase through time. If I have the money to build my own portfolio at this time, I would choose to buy gold bullion because I know my money will not be wasted.

Yes, There Are No Hilarious Videos and Free iPads on FB

If you have been spending time in Facebook, you probably already noticed that a malware attacked the system at least three times in the last three weeks. The malware is disguised as one “hilarious or sexy video” that a normal person can get interested on. I do not understand why a lot of people still get scammed into clicking and installing a malware that tries to access all contacts and details of the account. The app is called “Media Player HD” and leads you to install “FLV Player”. This can break or corrupt your system. An even more alarming style is that you will be asked to enter a contest giving you a chance to”win an iPad” making you more vulnerable.

To avoid it, simply delete the post on your wall, never click on the links and never use your log-in details unless you are on FB’s homepage.

French Open 2010

The matches started last weekend and some are already in Round Three. Some seeded players have been eliminated but so far the ones I like are still in :) More than anything, I waited for the gear the ladies would wear on the court. Here are some that caught my attention:

frenchO10_victoria

Pink and Girly on Victoria Azarenka

frenchO10_caroline

Signature Stella McCartney on Caroline Wozniacki

And finally the one that stirred controversy, Black Lace with Red Trimmings on Venus Williams (I think I’m going to barf):

Virginia Beauty School

Regency Beauty Institute, being one of the fastest growing beauty school, continues to expand across the United States, for instance Virginia Beauty School. The institute is at least fifty years old founded in Minneapolis. In 2002, the expansion began within nine states and there are plans to grow some more by next year. Since this is a reputable establishment, I recommended Regency to my high school friend who is now based in Virginia. We were talking over the phone the other day and she want to paradigm shift to something that truly stirs her passion: doing beauty make-overs. I am sure she will have the time of her life when she return to school!

Glee Addiction Update

So my friend Agatha reminded me that I have five days to get updated (new episode is coming up!) after I posted that last Glee entry. Oh no! But so far I am done with episodes 14 and 15, so 5 more episodes and I should be ready for Ep21. Now I am not too sure if I’ll be able to make it because I think the abuse I inflicted on my body (for pulling all-nighters for the last week or so) is catching up on me :(

lost

This image says it all. It’s always been my thought. I always wonder where I would be if I knew where I should be. I know I am too old for this, but you know I get my moments too. Don’t get me wrong though, I am happy being a wife and a mommy but I cannot help but think of the what-ifs sometimes :) Click on the image to view source.

Never Ending Feast

I’m coming clean. I have been eating and I have not been watching what I eat. I feel I’ve eaten too much this week that any of the top diet pills would be nice at this point. Yes, allow me to say it yet again: I am fat (bordering on disgusting) and I need to at least inject physical activity in my daily schedule. Funny that even if I know what I need, I do nothing about it. I’m pathetic :(

Current Addiction: Glee

glee

Yes the bug has bitten me and it’s bad. Imagine I tried to catch up and finished 13 episodes in less than three days. While I complain of not having enough time to do what I want and need to do, I indulged and made myself even less productive, LOL! I plan to finish my backlogged episodes before the new one is shown. But I think I have to slow down a little ;)

Skin Alert

Before my DD turned one year old, a rash developed on her skin. I thought it was just because of the heat but when it did not disappear right away, I started to worry. We consulted a dermatologist and she was given medications. I was just glad that it was not for eczema treatment but for simple infection only. The treatment lasted two months (or more) and now I am a happy mommy because her skin is clear again.

Updates in the Main Blog :)

Thursday, May 27, 2010

In case you are still wondering, I already converted my old art blog into my main blog (then I’ve set up a new art blog!). This is why I have limited updates here, at least the more personal ones are there.

You might want to read my latest musings: Why Nathaniel’s had to save the day, my little toddler and on Me being a Gleek (finally!).

See you there! ;)

Comment on Review of CCL

I hope I will never ever need the services of a criminal attorney but the information contained here is helpful. And yes, I agree that a person is innocent until proven guilty.

Comment on Review of SE Medical Supply

My dad is still using one of those the old manual blood pressure monitors (like the ones used in the hospitals before and is using mercury, ouch!). I guess it is time to upgrade him to a digital one because it is safer and he can monitor his BP even when he is alone.

Wednesday Happy Thoughts

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

For the longest time, I am not able to join and I am just glad that today I can post something…just on time! ;) It pays to be thankful, right? All the blessings continue to pour in when one appreciates the things that come along.

What is Pronexin?

I only heard of pronexin from a friend so I thought of googling it. I was led to a site that says it is treatment for acne (perfect timing for me?). And acne gone in 72 hours, it claims. Wow. Maybe I should remember this when my pimple start to break out again. I have yet to try a product that truly works for me.

Another Sale Alert | Trinoma Green Light Sale

trinomagreenlightsale

I actually saw the posters last week when Mom and I were in Trinoma. I kept in mind the date: Must.avoid.the.area.on.that.weekend.if.I.can.help.it! LOL! See, I am not really a big fan of Sales (I only got interested with that Sony Sale because I am somewhat a gadget kind of gurl ;)) because I am not a crowd person, really. But I am posting this because you might be interested. The raffle seems appealing :)

Health Scare

About a couple of weeks ago, we were alarmed that Ane’s blood pressure was 140/100 for two days. He probably got scared himself that he went to see their company doctor right away. The doctor ordered some blood tests, urinalysis and ECG done to see what could be wrong. The results came out okay except that he will have to undergo another kind of blood test to rule out Diabetes. He was also advised to live a healthier lifestyle – watch food intake, exercise more and probably take the best vitamins for men. These days, both of us are now prone to hypertension (the weather is not helping at all!). I guess it is really time to think about our lifestyle, eh?

Tempting Sony Sale!

Another Sale coming up and I am sure the deals would be tempting especially among techies and geeks!

sonysale

FIFTY PERCENT OFF?! Now I wish I have extra money to buy me a gift ;) I want a new point and shoot camera (I heard the new TX5 is awesome!) and a new hdtv would be nice too. There, “want” is the key term ;p

Comment on Collete Vacations Review

The last trip we had was in 2007. I would really love to travel once again this time with my daughter. We'd probably avail one of those europe tours because Europe is one of my dream destinations!

Comment on Think Big Sites Review

One thing I realized about building my own sites is that it is never easy. There are days that I think I should have paid for SEO services, from ThinkBigsites.com for instance. But I am trying to learn one day at a time hoping that I will be able to maximize my sites in the near future.

Comment on Friends of Water

We have been buying purified water for years now. I am wondering if it is already time to switch to water filter pitcher. This is a helpful review. http://www.portaldaciencia.com/?p=275&cpage=1#comment-1557

Was on a Break.

Friday, May 21, 2010

I went on a break from the internet for a few days. We spent three nights in Malabon where we only had my Mom’s Tattoo to connect to the “outside” world. Time was obviously limited plus I was too tired to even turn Santino on. The reason? Thanksgiving Year Two at Obando! It was Fiesta Time from May 17 to 19. I was able to sneak in a few minutes of FB time on the night of the 17th and posted this status:

woke up at 430am (to not miss the 6am mass). endured the heat, the heavy crowd. had to carry Klaire the whole time (malapit na humiwalay ang braso sa balikat ko!). but why we had to do these sacrifices made me think that it is nothing compared to the Miracle that we received in 2008. We danced and prayed as Thanksgiving! Obando Fiesta Day 1 is over. Two more days! :)

And so the three days ended and I am happy that we are able to fulfill a promise. Thank you Lord and Patrons! Next year ulit! :)

Mamsky

Badong and I went on a very quick trip to NBS Cubao early evening yesterday. On the way home, he told me about a post by Chico in his blog about one of the Rushers. It is a similar story that went around the scrapping world in March of this year. Ms. Beth was a paper scrapper and I never met her. However, her story was very much talked about not just in the egroup that I joined. In fact, it earned a slot in at least one of the major broadsheets here. She was murdered in their house by their maid who they employed only two weeks prior to the incident. Chico’s post is about the letter/email the husband sent the station because apparently, Mamsky was also a rusher like us.

Two lessons:

Life is too short.

Never trust a stranger.

Gold is In!

We may have forgotten but gold has always been a good investment. When you buy gold bullion, the chance of a better ROI is high as it is also a unique way to invest your money. Your purchasing power is preserved while your wealth is made stable. They say that it is a good time to buy gold now especially that the world market for both gold and silver is very dynamic. Resources are depleting so the demand for such precious metals is also increasing. This makes the metals more promising in the near future when stocks have become really low, can you imagine? Check out United States Gold Bureau for good deals.

ON and Gap Sale!

I remember around this time last year (or in June), I went gaga and splurged on shopping for Klaire. My friends and I filled boxes of loots that we finally received in August. I think I really went overboard –  now that a few items have not been worn yet! Yes! I was a sale hoarder and was being silly (I bought 18M clothes and K is just 15months now, go figure)! I would like to think that I am wiser now because I am keeping myself from shopping this time ;) But if you are curious as I am, you might want to hop on to the site and check out the Summer items on sale :)

swimsale_g

Between you and me, I am itching to email Glo and buy. But seeing the current sorry state of my Paypal (and my want to have my own printer), I need to stop myself from shopping!

Smile!

Thursday, May 13, 2010

I was super annoyed hours ago (still am, but not as much anymore) and Mr. Headache is not helping. I think I will not be able to sleep with my head pounding. The road construction on the other street (yes, at this hour!!!) adds to my complaints. So I took a break  and looked for the lyrics of a song and sang in my head.

Smile, though your heart is aching
Smile, even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You'll get by...
If you smile
With your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just...
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just...
Smile, though your heart is aching
Smile, even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You'll get by...
If you smile
Through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile...
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

Isn’t it true? Smiling (and singing!) will at least make things a bit more bearable. Smiling can minimize if not remove wrinkles. I feel burdened but I always forget that smiling (and praying!) works wonders. Time to exercise those facial muscles!

Doing My Share

reusablebag

Last week, I saw these re-usable bags in SM and told Ane I want to buy at least one. I didn’t know my Bebot friends were already talking about the bags for weeks now. So when we were out today to buy groceries, we dropped by the department store quickly to buy me this design (and another kind of re-usable shopping bag). I know I just did something right. I may not be able to help our environment in a big way, at least I am sure I am doing my share (or part of it). Early this year, we actually started bringing eco-bags when we buy our supermarket stuff. Also when buying small items, I specifically ask the cashier/checker to not put my items in a plastic anymore and just ask for the receipt. Sometimes I get looks that say I am weird but I don’t care. I just say, “Save the Earth, you know!?” when I am in the mood and just shrug when I have no time to explain hehe.

How about you, are you helping? :)

Indeed, You Are What You Eat…

diet

I got this image from Alpha and I just had to laugh! Here I am complaining all the time about my body and simply reads reports of diet pills reviewed but never move my butt neither watch what I eat. You can say I am doomed! I am bound to gain weight every month if I keep on neglecting my body. You can’t blame me though because I love to eat especially those calorie-laden sweets! Heaven help me, LOL!

I Exercised My Right!

I voted on Monday! I feel proud that I did my duty as a citizen of this country. It was the first ever automated election here and glitches were expected. We had to stay home in the morning because we waited for Ane to finish voting. I turned on the tv and saw in the news the long lines in very precinct. My family also had to endure the long line in our town. I was expecting worse when it was my turn. We got to Bulacan a little before lunch so I decided to wait after lunch to go to my cluster. Armed with the necessities – pen (for signing), wawa (for the sweat), fan, IDS and my list with my cluster & voter’s number – I went around 1230nn, Ane tagging along. Lo, when we got there, only about five people were ahead of me in line! Woohoo! Needless to say, I was done in less than twenty minutes! I even took my time shading the “bilog na hugis itlog”. I was also relieved when I the machine congratulated me for casting the ballot. I was number 506.

The results of this election were out pretty fast. Kudos to COMELEC. Most of my candidates did not make it (including my Dad) but I do not consider my ballot wasted. What matters most is that I made myself heard and I stood by what I believe in.

Let’s pray for a better Philippines!

It’s Mothers’ Day!

mothersday

Remember to hug your Mommy and tell her you love her! :) Happy Mothers’ Day to all Mommies in the world!

Books for Sale

Saturday, May 08, 2010

My books are in storage and my worry is that they’re gathering dust and mites that no one will be able to read them again. The idea to sell books crossed my mind but I guess I still have no heart to part with them. I still wish to build my own library in the future and naturally I would like my first few investments to live in that nook. So to buy new ones or stick with ebooks for now is something that I have to contemplate on. At this rate, I think I am sticking with the electronic ones until I have the space to house all my books. However, a friend is selling her books. I think her family is migrating soon and she cannot ship all of her stuff. I know this can be a sad decision but sometimes we all have got to do what needs to be done. Let’s help her find a good home for her books. Let me know if you are interested and I will send you her list.

I Wanna Go to the Beach!

Although it started to rain already, the heat is still unbearable. Makes we want to go somewhere more relaxing and refreshing – like anywhere abroad or the beach. It’s not like we have the budget to go an a vacation (neither I have the body to expose LOL!) but I cannot help wishing we are lounging somewhere nice right this minute. Maybe I should wait after the elections (we need to make sure it is safe to travel!) before I tell Ane to make plans?!

Insurance Advertising

I remember year years ago, people are not so convinced that insurance policies are necessary. They see these products as an expense rather than an investment for the future. Individuals have evolved, if I may say. I think companies have become more aggressive with insurance advertising that consumers have started to see the advantages of being covered by insurance. how about you, are you sufficiently covered already?

TAR Finals

Since the Final episode of The Amazing Race is on the same day as the elections, I am not so sure about being able to watch it. We will be home starting Sunday evening so Klaire will sleep longer. Ane and my in-laws will vote early in the morning on Monday, then we are off to my parents where we will await the results. I am sure it is going to be a nerve-wracking day that I just might forget that my favorite reality series is ending too. Can you remind me?! :)

Done for the Night (or Morning)

I have rebuilt my art blog. It did not take as much time as it did the first time. See, I was wiser the second time around because I subscribed to my own feeds, LOL! It was easier to re-do since I have my posts to copy and paste :D Now I only need to study this life insurance quote for someone then I am retiring for the night. I will recommend the company if the quote is any good :)

Cradle’s Mommy and Baby Fair 2010

Have you seen IronMan2?

Friday, May 07, 2010

Robert Downey Jr made me swoon over him yet again! I watched the movie with Ane, Mommy and brothers. We were not able to buy tickets earlier so we were not sitting together. I want to watch again but I am not sure if I can leave K behind again.

I love how Tony tried to cope with the idea of death and his reaction every time he checks with that device that looks like a finger pulse oximeter. I am not going to say anything more because I heard that showing in the US starts May 7 (not sure though) and I do not want to be the bearer of spoilers :) Catch it and be sure to stay until the end of credits. Especially if you are a comic book junkie, you will be delighted with what you will see!

Voters’ Prayer

I have maintained that my blogs are all apolitical in nature (read: I am not into debating about my political views and I respect every person’s decisions :) And I would appreciate it if you do not fall trap into the survey results especially if you we’re never asked at least once in those surveys. Please give your vote to the one who you think deserves your voice however tiny it is). But come Monday, history will unfold. Will there be chaos or everything will fall into place? Let us all pray for our country. Pray before you cast your ballot.

Let me share this prayer I got from Toni:

LORD, make me an instrument of your presence in the Polls.

Where there is coercion and violence,

Let me sow seeds of love;

Where there is bribery and vote buying,

Let me sow seeds of integrity;

Where there is discord,

Let me sow seeds of unity;

Where there is electoral fraud,

Let me sow seeds of honesty;

Where there is duplicity and propaganda,

Let me sow seeds of truth;

Where there is indifference,

Let me sow seeds of care and concern;

And, where there is despair in the electoral process,

Let me sow seeds of hope.

Oh Divine Master, grant that I may not so much

Think of my selfish motives when I vote.

Instill in me a deep sense of communal solidarity in my critical choice of candidates who would rise above the traditional politics of PAY-OFF, PERSONALITY and PATRONAGE.

Enlighten me to elect worthy men and women who embody the true spirit of public service in their moral consciousness.

For it is voting responsibly that we receive

the fruits of true democracy.

And it is in dying as a seed to our selfishness

that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.

God bless the Philippines.

Opportunities

I am not that lucky when it comes to jobs (or maybe I am just being lazy? I digress…). But the past few weeks, some opportunities have been opened for my family and we are praying that at least one will push through. Our time has come and I believe we deserve a big break. I will have to be cryptic at this point so as not to jinx anything. Just please pray with us :)

Not as Techie as I claim Myself to be :|

So my new art blog got hacked yet again :| That’s twice in about three weeks. The site is just three weeks old. Go figure how frustrating it is for me. K slept early tonight so that gives me ample time to reconstruct the blog (and do online tasks). Back to zero. It can get depressing and tiring but I am not giving up on something that I invested hard-earned money on.

Bring it on!

Surprise, Surprise!

Sunday, May 02, 2010

My Tita in the US is having her dress made here and just sent her measurements via email. Yesterday, we accompanied my Mom to the designer to order it. The designer cannot imagine Tita’s figure so she asked us questions. I said Tita probably have the same frame as mine and that we seem to be of the same height. Just to be sure, the designer let the assistant take my measurements and my jaw dropped when I realized that my waistline is 3 inches bigger than my Tita’s! I know I am fat but not as fat as the tape measure claim me to be, LOL!  Later, Mommy almost recited her weight loss tips, but told me instead that she was skinnier than I am when she already had three kids. Depressing, isn't it?

;p

Temporarily Escaped the Heat

Saturday, May 01, 2010

I had to drive for my mom this afternoon (or yesterday afternoon, it’s past midnight now). I tagged Klaire and the two angels along so I didn’t have to think about the baby while I was out. And besides, we were able to temporarily escape the heat because we got to stay in the restaurant for about two hours = free A/C :) Best of all, there was free wifi too and mom brought her lappy, so I was able to work while waiting :)

Funny and True

The internet is a big source of entertainment :) Someone sent this to me via email and I found it too funny yet true. I had to look for the original source and I was successful:

notworking

Loosely translated, it says: An unlikely relationship is similar to a fat person – not working out.  Trust artistic Filipinos to come up with slogans like this!
