She is Two!

Monday, January 31, 2011

K turned two this weekend. I did not plan on doing anything as we already had plans of going to Singapore to celebrate. But the last minute, I decided to invite our immediate families to gather for a simple celebration at home. I ordered a cake and some balloons, printed some banderitas, and had food delivered. We feasted on spaghetti, shanghai and chicken lollipops, plus we prepared some hotdogs for that old fashioned house party feel :)

I am recovering from fever right now. I need to get well for our flight early tomorrow. So the stories will have to wait until we get back.

Tata for now!

What happens when ad agencies planned kids' birthday parties?

Saturday, January 29, 2011

I saw this video here. I found it really funny and creative :) Such a nice way to plan a kid’s party, eh? I like that multi media is used in planning for this party.

Have you noticed how stressful it has become to plan a kid’s party? Well, I know because in my circle of mommies and also from my e-groups, a lot of moms are confused, given that there are so much out there in the market for parties these days.

Construction Mishap

Friday, January 28, 2011

My parents are constructing a building in our hometown for a project so these days, our conversations are almost always about it. From permits, to demolition of old house, to hardware like industrial pumps, to the finishing & furnishings when the building is done. Of course safety of the workers is a priority too. We want to avoid mishaps like the one happened in Makati yesterday morning. The service elevator in the site gave way, fell from 32nd to 7th floor. At least 10 were instantly killed in the accident. While something like this is unlikely to happen because ours isn’t high-rise, everyone in the compound must follow safety precautions.

I’ve Got Your Back

Saturday, January 22, 2011

gotyourback

Found this image really hilarious, that’s a pretty literal thing to do, right? LOL! But then again, I find that this image fits me now because I have a lot to think and worry about. And I have my support team to cheer me on and tell me that everything will be all right. It’s nice to know that other people care aboot me.

Home World Sale

Thursday, January 20, 2011

We went for some errands in Megamall this morning. Well, mainly to buy some necessities for K and pick-up the studio pictures shot last week. While in line for the parking, I saw this sign:

Home-World-Sale

I think I saw this in friend’s blog but did not consider it until we realized we needed to move out (after we received that call from the the landlord). Some of our stuff will not fit anymore in the new house, so we need to let go of some them buy what we need (or make do with what will still be available for us).

SO we might let this sale pass, especially that we are also busy sorting our stuff.

iWon!

Friday, January 14, 2011

Remember that give-away contest that Litzie hosted last week? The one where she was giving out two Starbucks Planner?

Litz_give-away

Litz sent me a message yesterday that I won one of the planners! Woohooo!

iWon

I was even told that I was extra lucky yesterday because my name was picked TWICE! :) Of course she had to draw another name, and the other planner is going to Caryl! Thanks Litz for giving me the chance to own a Starbucks planner without the calories, LOL!

No Dancers?

We were watching the news last night when I read a friend’s tweet about how weird for Willing Willie to not have the regular dancers on stage. So we switched channels and true enough, it was just Ana, the group’s choreographer who was doing the usual dancers’ jobs. I asked Ane if he knows about it, he said that he read somewhere that the regular dancers were suspended for fighting amongst themselves. I say they better clean up their act, otherwise they will lose their work and get fat. I am sure they will scramble to find which diet pills really work when that happens, for lack of regular exercise and depression.

I read a news page this morning and found out the reason for their suspension, apparently an indefinite one. The host, Willie, was saying that the dancers keep on fighting each other, even fighting publicly on Twitter. Not a sign of being professional, eh? Willie even divulged that each talent receives P40,000 a month plus a car to use. Certainly, that’s more than a minimum wage earner gets per month, so they are considered lucky. If they do return, I hope they have learned a truly valuable lesson.

Proposed Internet Cap, Junked

Where’s the “unlimited” in a provision that will place a cap on daily internet usage, right? This is what the protesters were fighting for when the National Telecommunications Commission announced that there is already a draft proposal that if and when approved will limit daily download of users. Ala, this controversial provision in rules was scrapped on Wednesday after the well-attended public consultation in Quezon City.

I say kudos to NTC! Although I am not against the limit to cut internet addiction, I still believe that internet providers should at least improve on their services first (increase speed, deym!) and not impose this new rule to current subscribers who signed up & are supposedly paying for “unlimited” usage.

I can see that in the very near future, companies will be more wary of their marketing strategies.

Non-stop Eating

Thursday, January 13, 2011

Just this afternoon, I think I ate enough calories to last me the next day: five pieces of choco chip cookies and a bunch of fresh strawberries with condensed milk, lots of it! At this rate, I will need Diets pills that work if I want to look good at the beach in March. There you go, I just broke my resolution to avoid over-eating, LOL! I need to get my acts straight, really.

Claim Your Passports within Six Months

The Department of Foreign Affairs reminds those who applied for their passports to claim them within six months from the time of release. Otherwise, the unclaimed passports will be disposed. Of course this reminder call the attention of those who preferred to pick up their passports rather then those who opted to have them couriered. Apparently there is a DFA regulation allowing DFA Paranaque, POEA Passport Extension Office,  Regional Consular offices nationwide, and Philippine Embassies & Consulates Generals to cancel and immediately dispose all unclaimed passports.

Monitoring Height

To be honest, I have not monitored K’s height. Every visit to the doctor for her well-baby check-up, she would refuse to stand on the clinic’s stadiometer (wow, I feel smart for using the term, LOL!). But I know that she’s gaining height because her dresses are now mere blouses and that she can now reach her tricycle’s pedals ;) I  have ONE record (emphasis on “one”, what kind of first-time mom am I?!) and it’s on the wall of our room. I will have to note that down in her baby book, and take a picture perhaps, since we are moving out of this house soon.

Top 10 Movies of 2010

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

I hardly watched American Movies (even local ones) in 2010, this I realized after checking out the Top 10 Movies of 2010 according to Time:

  1. Toy Story 3
  2. Inside Job
  3. Never Let Me Go
  4. Life During Wartime
  5. The Social Network
  6. Rabbit Hole
  7. Wild Grass
  8. Green Zone
  9. Waiting  for ‘Superman’
  10. Four Lions

Imagine, I only know 2 out of the 10 movies, Toy Story 3 and The Social Network, and I have not seen both! So I guess I need to check out the rest. I love going to the movies but I need to accept the fact that taking care of my toddler is more fun than going on a movie-date :) I can always catch these  movies later, right?

Almost Unnecessary Purchase

Sunday, January 09, 2011

My mom is always on the go. And she needs her laptop for work and pleasure all the time. It is not surprising that she got a little upset that her laptop decided to die on her the other night. She cannot be not online lest she’d be backlogged. Thinking that the laptop is really already dead, she actually contemplated on buying a new one, even an Asus netbook would have been fine because it is cheaper and this “purchase” is not really planned. But she texted me a few hours ago to inform me that she was able to turn it on so buying is also on hold. Thank goodness! For now, I told her to make sure her important files have back-ups so she need not worry about them when the incident recurs.
