I scrapped! (and a Baby Dot kwento :))

Saturday, October 25, 2008

Oh yeah, oh yeah! I scrapped last night! I made two layouts. They may not be entirely from scratch (because I used templates), but I'm pretty glad that I was able to finish 'em in no time. I hope this is that start of a better relationship with darling mojo, LOL! Click on the images to lead you to their respective posts in my creative blog :)

For the Dot story, I haven't shared here that I've been reading stories and playing songs for the baby. Usually, Dot would just stay still, as if listening to my voice or to the music. For the songs, I'd play kids' songs. Then last week, hoping to get another reaction, I played love songs (hehe only because the the children's songs lull me to sleep, LOL!). But Dot still wouldn't budge.

This afternoon, we were watching Eat Bulaga because we were waiting for the return of Francis M. Guess what!? Dot started moving a lot the minute Ely Buendia started singing and continued until after Francis M finished SuperProxy. And this is the first time I felt Dot move like that, like what other mothers say -- parang may alon sa tiyan. What's that about, eh? I imagine Dot tapping the fingers and stomping the feet just like in a concert. Are we going to raise a rakista?!? :D

Credit, credit, credit!

Our phone line (and broadband connection!) went conkers this morning while Ane and I were surfing the net. Of course we were wondering what went wrong. While discussing, my FIL went up to ask us the same question. We share the phone line with them. He sounded so upset and I was like, why did he need to make a big deal out of the situation when we have nothing to do with the lost connection, eh? Turned out he was talking to a customer service representative of a credit card company when the line went dead and the dialtone didn't return right away.

My FIL was discussing a credit dispute on his bill. He is never late on his payments and it concerns him that the company is charging him for something he does not owe. He demanded that the company do something about it and offer him credit repair. Afterall, he only uses his credit card to improve credit score -- and more often than not, the use of the card is for official purchases that his company reimburses. I am sure my FIL will do his best to clear his name.

How about you? Are you interested to know the ways to improve credit? Then check out repairyourbadcredit.com. :)

Hyper night :)

We arrived home (meaning in Malabon) about an hour ago and I just spent those precious minutes browsing through the Amazing Race Asia 3 forum. What can I say?

Geoff and Tisha, Team Philippines totally rocked this leg!

So yeah, we waited for the episode to finish before we hit the road for home -- as we've been doing since the start of the season LOL, we don't have cable tv here.! We missed a few minutes in the beginning since Ane and I had to fetch Mom in Tomas Morato. Turned out we didn't miss much and we can catch it later on during reruns :)

It was a really smart move for Geoff and Tisha (who by the way is so gorgeous and poised, she need not take orovo to slim down some more :)) to exchange their ferry tickets to Macau for an earlier trip. The five minute difference was such a huge plus on their part. Why didn't the others think of that, anyway?! Hehe. The other teams they were supposed to ride with were kinda confused when they got in the earlier trip. Tsk.

G&T was also nice to leave some money at the cluebox for Ida and Tania in Macau. I guess Filipinos are born altruistic and helpful. And the Pinoys cheering for our team, yay! Can't help but smile on that one!

A controversy sparked during the Yield where Henry called Geoff, fake and scum. Look who's bitter, brother! I bet Henry and Bernie would have yielded G&T had they arrived earlier. Again the ferry ride worked on G&T's side!

During the Detour, I was thinking G&T took the wrong choice but they did well in the dragon dance. It would have taken more time if they chose the Black Jack Challenge. Geoff was so cute when he asked if he could keep the yellow pants on, hihi. And that's a big ouchie he got when he slipped, poor guy.

We were holding on to our seats just before pitstop, the one where they have to arrange the Chinese signs. Had G&T lost their patience and cool, Sam and Vince would have finished before they did. We shouted "Yes!!" when the doors opened!

Geoff and Tisha owned the leg and I sure hope they keep it up :) There were no teasers for next week's episode so I guess I'll just enjoy the reruns and wait until next Thursday! :D

Thank you!!

Thanks to those who left messages in my post on Dot's CAS:

Yen, Amore, Chikai, Mae and Faye :D

Really appreciate it ladies! :D Kakatuwa naman, you're all guessing Dot's gender (except for Mae who thinks she's right na talaga, LOL!).

I'm not telling yet, just the same! :) I'm still thinking whether I should run a contest for that (maybe when they approve my $30 overdue opps, eh?). We'll see :D

Bedroom Makeover

Hubby and I are thinking of fixing our room here in QC in preparation for Baby Dot's arrival in January. Our room has become cluttered (I badly need to organize and throw stuff!) and we need the extra space for the baby's things. Resources are very limited yet we would really love to update our Bedroom Furniture. I would like the feel of a Modern Bedroom identical to the one in the photo :) We have a similar bed in Malabon and it's just heaven to be sleeping in a king-sized bed with lotsa pillows :D

We really want another low-rise king-sized bed and matching furniture and fixtures in our QC room to give it the Contemporary Bedroom look. Now if only money isn't in question and my Mom is not against giving-up the dated and bulky queen-sized bed, then we would have gotten over the makeover already. Hehe.

Yen's QOTW

I'm a day late!

1. Fill in the blank. “I used to be vulnerable but I’m not anymore (at least not as much as before).
2. What makes you cry? Just about anything, I'm such a crybaby!
3. Are you more creative or adventurous? More creative :)
4. What is your favorite line from a movie? "For you, a hundred times over!" - from the Kite Runner
5. What do you do when you have nothing better to do? Sleep, watch TV, read.
6. Would you rather win an argument knowing you are wrong, or lose an argument knowing you are right? Lose an argument even if I am right, no guilty feelings!
7. Are you more organized or disorganized? Leaning to more disorganized, LOL!
8. What do you collect? Havaianas, but I'm on shopping freeze now!
9. Which gives you the most satisfaction, recognition or private success? Private success, others need not know.
10. Any plans for the upcoming Halloween? My cousins are coming over for Tori's first Halloween party and Trick or Treat! :)

The rest are here :)

Shopping? I hear yah!

I'll be honest. I am not a big shopping fan. I only go to the mall when I need to buy something. Otherwise, I stay away. And when I do go to the mall, I make sure I go just after the stores open or before they close down, when the crowd is minimal. Big crowds scare me. LOL!

Online shopping is another thing. While it is true that I fear getting scammed online, the information I can get from the internet also overwhelms me. I recently discovered Shopwiki while doing my blogrounds. I would say it's a wonderful discovery. The site is a one-stop domain where I can search for great buys and good finds. Makes life (rather online shopping!) a bit easier, ayt? I even stumbled upon that nice maternity top in one of my searches. And that's not all! (Hmmm, I sound like an infomercial, LOL!) While waiting for shopping money to come, I can just browse around to read the guides and tips on trends, body types (so shopping becomes even easier!) and/or styles.

I'm grinning from ear to ear. I'm sure the husband will freak out when I get hooked shopping, LOL!

The early bird gets the worm.

This goes true for me today. After preparing breakfast and after Ane (and LBB) left for work, I decided to turn Ivy on and check my emails, instead of going back to sleep. Yes, I am still sleepy and feeling so tired. But knowing now that I was emailed a task perked me up :D When I logged-in, I was even able to take a grab bag task that doubles my payout (of course double the work! LOL!).

So let me just get a glass of cold water and I'm off to "work" :D

Don't miss Baby Dot Update...

Sunday, October 19, 2008

Two posts down!!! :D

Sale Season...

It's weekend sale at the two malls in Ortigas (and we're missing it!). And the Big Black Friday Sale in the US is coming up really soon. I would have wanted to return to the US this year just to experience the biggest sale of the year, but the plan got scrapped out because I got pregnant (oh well, as if we had the resources to travel, LOL!). Most people actually save up for this day (like Chris, Ane's friend who plan to get an HDTV!) and for my friend Jo who considers the day after Thanksgiving the biggest day of them all, hehe.

As for me, I'm thinking of getting a new point and shoot camera through my sister but I'm having second thoughts. Maybe I should just get baby stuff for Dot, eh? Decisions, decisions!

It's hard to make decisions when moolah is in question, LOL!

Twilight

I'm kinda behind the raving coz I never really talked about the books in this blog. But I got hooked in the stories (Go Team Edward!!!). I finished reading all four books in record time! I even borrowed the last book from Papita even before he opened it and read it himself!

After reading the books though, I had terrible, bad dreams for weeks. Dreams that could make me scream in the middle of the night.

So Ane suggested I take all things Twilight off my mind and think happy thoughts, read other books. That I successfully did...

Until the Twilight fan in me resurrected upon reading other fans' blogs and after watching the film's trailer. The movie will be shown in Manila the same time as the world premier on 21 November. I'm begging, literally begging, Ane to watch it with me on the first showing in the morning (Nov. 21 is a Friday, and his day-off!!). He said I can watch it after two weeks when everyone else are done watching, so there will be less people and less chance for me to catch any virus. What's that about, eh? Talk about being paranoid, LOL (but that's what my OB wants as well, huhu)! But what about me? I only get to watch it after everyone else has spoilt the moment for me, eh? So I really have to beg, hehe. Wish me luck!

For now, I content myself by reading forums, blogs and Stephenie Meyer's website where I also got a pdf file of the draft of Midnight Sun (Twilight in Edward's point of view). I really wish the author will continue publishing it, even after getting pissed that the copy even leaked out.

Dot Update - Congenital Anomaly Scan

We went to my OB's clinic on Wednesday for the congenital anomaly scan. Although my OB, Doc Alfiler was there, it was Doc Pineda who did the scan. We were second in line so we had to wait for an hour or so. It didn't matter because we enjoyed checking out the new clinic's spunky look! :) The main color scheme is green (wow!), so cool to the eyes and I'm liking the over-all effect. Doc A. did a great job designing with the help of her architect. Her office is in lavender (yay, girly!) and the new pedia office (her husband's) is in yellow :) Ane also helped in setting up the AV system. She's still fixing the pictures of the babies she delivered and she will lay it out on the waiting area walls. She also plans to buy a digital frame to showcase the babies pictures :) Next time we just might be able to shoot some pictures, hehe.

Whoa, that's a long introduction to a post, LOL! On the scan...

Dot has grown bigger...from my last check-up when the baby is mid-average to above average :) Dot now weighs 688 grams and the heart is beating normally. I've gained about 13lbs from the time I learned of the pregnancy, so I'm right on track.

We're waiting for the official results but we were told there's nothing to worry about because everything is normal. The head is normal-sized and has no signs of hydrochepalus. Nose has a bridge. Distance of eyes from each other, normal. Kidneys are okay. Heart beating normally. Breathing is normal, the diaphragm working perfectly. Spine has no signs of scoliosis. No cleft on both the lips and palate. Fingers are complete and Dot can close fists. There are ten toes. Lookie at the right foot scan! :D (I realized I need to clean our scanner LOL!). Dot is still in breach position but moves around a lot anyway, so no worries. There are no bumps on the neck, and the cord isn't twisted around it.

Lastly, we know the gender but I'm not announcing yet in this blog :p

Heat and cramps and shoes...

Saturday, October 18, 2008

Can you believe how hot the weather has been for the last three days?!?! I complained to Ane on Thursday about it and didn't bring it up again. Until we stayed home all day yesterday, and the heat just really got me! I attributed the feeling to being pregnant but Ane said it was really hot.

I had a hard time sleeping last night because of the heat too. I laid myself on our bed and felt the heat from the mattress, as if someone had heated the sheets with body warmth (shucks, I hate that!). It wasn't a restful night.

And then I woke up around seven in the morning with a left leg cramp. I had to wake Ane to give me an impromptu massage. Man, it was painful, I had to stifle screams. And then the same thing happened to my right leg around 10am. Maybe I should start doing leg and feet exercises from now on, eh?

Speaking of feet, I've always been a snickers-and-flipflops type of girl (I wear heels only when there's an event that calls for it) . Now that I'm pregnant, I'm thinking of getting at least a pair of shoes (something else, yeah!?) that is ultra-comfy for the shopping errands we'll do in the next few weeks *wink*. Oh, that also means exercise for me, LOL! Anyway, I saw this Dansko pair online and it looks perfect, don't you think? Something like this, I think, will withstand long hours walking in the mall! I'll probably look for something similar locally because the shipping alone will take time.

But then again, I'll need Ane's permission to buy a pair of shoes before I blab about it here, huh? :)

Tweaking update and an old picture :)

Friday, October 17, 2008

Done with tweaking and I am quite satisfied (for now LOL!) :) I'm really loving the new template I installed. I'm just glad that it worked fine. The colors are beautiful -- fun and lively and happy :) I think I'm keeping this layout for now since I had a hard time putting everything back...and I'm not even sure if I'll ever have the patience to tweak again, LOL! I even lost my links! TG for Caryl's code, I didn't have to encode all of Bebot's links manually (the list even gets automatically updated when Caryl adds a new link!). For my other links in "Friends and Virtual Buddies", let me know if I missed anyone. I made a mistake when I saved to another template without even jotting down the list. My bad.

Ok peeps! Lemme know what you think of the new look :)

And here's a candid picture of myself three years ago. Found this in my EHD while browsing for pictures to be sent to my mom. Can I just say I totally miss my long shiny hair?!?!?!?! Sigh.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Been online the entire day (half the day actually) and I'm not done yet! :) Hopefully I can finish tonight my post about Wednesday's Congenital Anomaly Scan of Baby Dot. I'm still doing some updates in my Multiply though, so we'll see :)
Messed up!
Trying to tweak my blog template...
Argh my links are gone!!!
Pardon the mess, I'm trying to figure this out...
Lumpiang Hubad
This post isn't about a particular food or porn. Wala lang ako maisip na title and since I haven't organized my thoughts, this is gonna be a messy entry. LOL!
I realized that I have so many things to share that aren't worth sharing anymore heheh. I nearly composed an entry yesterday then I got hungry. We went out for a quick merienda and then when we got home came that realization :) Anyway, it was a nice merienda because we went to my childhood lugawan place, Nena's in Bulacan!
~~~~~~~~

Ane haven't felt Dot's kicks. Because everytime he stops whatever he's doing and tries to feel my tummy, Dot would stop moving, LOL!

I'm big now, at least the tummy! Time for another bump pic. I didn't see my mom for a week and when she came here, she was surprised how big I got hehe. Even my MIL gave the same comment.

I wore my maternity pair of shorts yesterday and I almost didn't fit! Argh! It was only the second time and I'm glad I remembered to wear it yesterday. I probably won't be able to use it up to full-term. Sigh. Ane suggests I wear it while I can, sayang ang pinangbili! Thankfully I can still wear the pair after giving birth.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I didn't have to wake up early yesterday because we were in Malabon and Ane had no work. But guess what?!?! I woke up at 530am even without the alarm! Talk about getting used to the daily routine my mom imposed, huh? But of course I went back to sleep hehe.
Or it could be that I am really having a hard time sleeping nowadays. I really have to sleep sideways and there must be a pillow behind me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And the lower backaches!! It's starting to bother me now. I can't stay seated (when seated, I need to be reclined and again, a pillow to support) or standing up for long periods of time.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ivy fell AGAIN from the collapsible table this afternoon!! Glad she's still working. And I noticed that the "fan error" never occurred again after the first fall last week. At least something good came out from my clumsiness.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

That's it for now. Gotta go down in the kitchen and prepare tonight's dinner. I realized I love cooking and I enjoy feeding my family (as long as everything I need is available), kahit minsan palpak ang luto ko! LOL!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wanna eat some cake and ice cream. As in now na! Sigh.
Friday Fill-in
Grabbed from Chikai :) Thanks!
1. Oh, I can't wait until I can have a slice of chocolate cake!
2. The pitchers of water are the first thing I see when I open my refrigerator. LOL! We have nothing in our ref here in Malabon! :D
3. I never leave home without my eyeglasses.
4. If I were a condiment, I would be Toyo because I always have it in my head, mwahahah.
5. Being lied to is really high up on my list of pet peeves.
6. The last thing I thought of before I went to bed was darn lower back pains!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to watching Spoiled Angelina in Bubble Gang :D, tomorrow my plans include staying home in QC and dinner with the E's and Sunday, I want to just hang out with the brothers after mass.
I'm doing my brother's business card in a while then I have some personal updates to share :)
Productive morning.
Tuesday, October 07, 2008
It was indeed a productive morning for me :)
I woke up just before 5am and prepared breakfast, I let mom sleep longer. I tried to wake the ward but she won't budge so I went on with the morning's business. She got up after I was done preparing the sausages and eggs. She finished doing the garlic fried rice. The Hubby and the brother went down for breakfast a little bit later than usual (Hubby was late for work!), tsk.
I was supposed to go back to sleep after they left but I got sidetracked again (plus I need to read/look in the net for something about a portable oxygen concentrator). Naisingit pa iyun ano? I remembered I had a hard time falling asleep last night because I had this nagging feeling that my Paypal is going to be hacked and I need to change passwords right away. Talk about getting so paranoid! So I turned Ivy on and did what I had to do. Then I felt so ME this morning I decided to do Aggie's AWTK#4 -- before I get too lazy to join in LOL! That's in the previous post.
While doing the tag, Mom thought of working in brother's desktop. She asked me to help her print her report and then left for work. Li'l bro requested that I install some programs for him. Which I did. He now has PSCS3, Lightroom (added presets too!) and Publisher. Yay!
And now I'm kinda exhausted I think I'll really go back to bed for a nap :) It's gonna be a long day after lunch. I have bank and bill errands, and we can't delay going to the grocery any longer. Lest we won't have food for dinner tonight. Lagot! And it is I who will prepare dinner. Soooo...
TTFN!!! Laters!
AWTK#4: See and know ME! :)
From Aggie:
Anyway, for this week, I want to SEE you. Post your most recent pictures. It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t look great. I want to see more than what is a normal avatar. Take note that it needs to be RECENT. Can you believe I can use an avatar dated 2 years ago? Time for things to change :)
Secondly, I want to KNOW you. Just YOU. Sans kids, the husband, just YOU. I have a lot of ME tags in my blog – you can use that. What do I want to read: You – Now. It can be as simple as “I love Coke.” or as complex as “I am the crossroads of my life.”
This is me NOW, with my baby doll and first born, Sissy, at the background. This is me Now, as in this picture was taken this morning at 725am :) Me with the uncombed hair, big nose and still in sleepwear (and currently on my 23th week [23wks and 5 days to be exact] of pregnancy). Taken just before I go back to sleep. Done with breakfast, milk and vitamins. I prepared the meal! Been like this for about two weeks now. I seriously need a pat on the back, LOL!
Anyway, I'm the second child among four siblings (and second girl of two). I was raised in Bulacan in a very strict environment. The parents didn't spoil us (oh well, I always thought we were underprivileged back then) but provided well for our needs and we always had enough. If there's something we really want, we had to wait or work hard for it.
I had a happy childhood -- having a very large backyard to play around with my cousins, even aunts. I remember playing under the big Camachile tree and inside our very own bahay kubo. We'd even ask the neighbor to let us pick guavas from their tree :) We'd wait for the Lollie to come home hoping she'd bring some pasalubong for us.
In high school, I was sent to an all-girl school in Manila. My sister and I, together with her bestfriend, lived in a dorm run by the RVM sisters. We were basically living in a nunnery. I was in for the shock of my life. I secured myself inside my shell and never opened up until the last few months of third year. I wasn't happy. I gained new friends early on but it just wasn't enough. I was always the newcomer and Probinsyana, or so I felt/thought (realized later on that this wasn't true at all, my friends valued me :)). There were things happening in our lives (as a family) that were hard to ignore for someone like me who was just beginning to see 'reality'. I was an idealist (still am), struggled to accept things I cannot control.
The feeling of helplessness lingered until I went to university where I met new friends. I found ME in and around them. And I slowly made peace with the monsters that bugged me for years. I've always thought that I took the wrong courses as degrees but looking back, I won't trade the years I spent in college for anything.
And my current state? I'm full of angst and worries yet very much happy, knowing that I have my Ane and soon Baby Dot to see me through. I just contradicted myself but that's the best description of what I feel. Crazy, yeah, but sometimes I surprise myself with the things I say.
One must be equally insane to get me.
~~~~~~
PS. Thanks for enabling, Aggie! This is one of the most serious posts I've ever shared in a blog. Really. And it feels good to just 'write' it down.

Online Business

Saturday, October 04, 2008

A lot of entrepreneurs here in Manila are young and basically does retail business as a hobby. Most of them does business online, as it is more cost efficient (think savings on space rentals). Although one must really invest first on building credentials and trust among online buyers. One of them online entrepreneurs is my brother. He decided to sell things that he is passionate about -- games. He's pretty much serious about this that he even signed up to his own ecommerce merchant account. He commissioned a designer to build his website and even went out of his way to contact banks which can provide him with a credit card payment system. I can say he's doing pretty well and is expanding really fast. I'm even prouder that he's able to widen his network (you won't believe the kind of people he now deals with!)

Visit Ysidro's Gamecore :) I did some of his site banners and I also help him with the merchandising stuff :)

Again, we'll be at the Anicon '08 in Megamall the whole day tomorrow to give out fliers. You might wanna drop by too!

He is overweight :)

Thursday, October 02, 2008

Hubby that is. His annual physical exam confirmed it (although we don't need the reminding mwehehe). He gained weight during our two-month vacation last year and never got around to losing the excess pounds. Now he complains that he cannot control his diet since he eats with preggy me and he eats whatever I cannot finish (guilty knowing that a lot of people have nothing to eat on this side of the world).

Last Sunday, I met with my two guy friends, Edsel and Roderick for lunch at Gateway (Edsel was on a quick trip to Manila from Singapore -- 4 days!!-- to fix some wedding stuff). Hubby didn't join us since my brothers were with us and he opted to stroll with them, but they still saw each other when they "turned me over" to Hubby. This afternoon, I was chatting with Edsel and he noticed the weight gained by Hubby.

Oh well, I guess he really needs to be serious on losing weight when I give birth in January. He needs to get back to playing his regular games and to watch his diet carefully. Let's see if he'll still need Ephedrasil Hardcore, a fat burner. But I hope not anymore ;)

Week 22 check-up and update

I had my monthly check-up with the OB last week. I had to take a cab going to the clinic since Ane's sched was changed due to training. I asked to be the last one to be attended because I wanted Hubs to be there with me :) He came just before 4pm.

Well, I gained 5lbs since my last visit! That's something good :) Doc A said I can still gain more since I have a small frame, hehe. She commended me for being good and commended Ane more for watching what I eat, teehee. My belly is bigger based on the fundal height measurement. And best of all, I've got no more contractions, yayayayyy!!! We discussed about taking Anmum (which was included in the BFAD list of possibly melamine-contaminated products) and she said there's no concrete proof that it's true so I can continue drinking it. It's good that BFAD removed the brand from the list two days after. The distributor insisted their products come from New Zealand and not China. My body has adjusted to the milk intake, although I still have soft stool (eewww too much info!) heheh.

Dot's heartbeat is still at 144bpm and is within the average size. We failed to check the gender because the baby moved a lot too much! Doc A asked if I can feel the movement, but after the 3-kick incident last week, the movements went back to light tapping. Doc A said it's because there's lotsa water in the placenta :) The congenital anomaly scan is scheduled on October 15 and I just hope that Dot will be more cooperative :)

After the check-up, Ane allowed me to reward myself with all things "bawal": french fries, sprite, ice cream and junk food. Hehe.

'Til my next OB update! :)
