Yen's QOTW #47

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

1. It’s really funny when I hear Ane's giggling.

2. What’s your story? I'm currently nearing my 4oth week of pregnancy and still no sign of Labor. Hoping to give birth by this weekend!
3. How often do you awaken remembering your dream/s? Most of the time :) Then forget them after an hour or so, after I've shared with Ane.
4. Would you have a baby to save a relationship? Nope, I think that's pathetic.
5. Is it acceptable to kill one man in order to save a million? No reason is acceptable, killing someone is never an excuse.
6. If someone calls you and asks for your name, do you tell them? I'll verify first what it's for.
7. In the past days/weeks, what piece of mail made you the happiest? Just some email exchange with Ane about not so serious stuff :)
8. Would you want to live forever? Only with Edward, wahhahaha! Kidding aside, I'd probably get tired of living and would want to pass on.
9. Is sitting around doing nothing inconsequential? Not exactly, I need a break sometimes :)
10. What does whispering makes you think of? Sweet nothings!

The rest are here :)

Scratching the Shopping itch...

Yes, the bug has bitten me. I feel the urge to shop especially that my doctor advised me to walk and walk and walk some more. I can walk here in the compound, the space is ample for an hour's worth of exercise but I find that boring, heheh. So off we go to the malls, when Hubby is not too tired to walk with me. So I find it inevitable to leave the the mall without something, even just a little something worth less than $20.

But even if I'm home, my online buddies are great shopping enablers, I tell yah! Just this week, the ladies are on a shopping frenzy! They're particularly "clamoring" for accessories :) It started with bags (oh, those LV and Coach bags are to die for!) and then shoes (love those wedges!). I wasn't able to join the conference (I was probably napping, LOL!) so now I content myself with just looking at shopwiki :) Yes, I just look and drool, definitely no touch! Haha.

With the current financial status, that's how I scratch the itch -- by window shopping! LOL!

ps. pardon the disorganized entry, I'm still sleepy! :D

Yes, still pregnant.

I would have shared the blow-by-blow details of our last OB visit but words are escaping me now. Well, the bottomline is I gained weight (when I shouldn't), my tummy has lots of amniotic fluid, Baby Dot is fine and my cervix is still closed at 39 weeks. I was advised to stop drinking momma milk, walk some more, get my calcium needs from veggies and to take Buscopan for three days (to soften the cervix).

I've been doing a lot of walking since Friday. We walked in Megamall (the entire 5th, 4th and 3rd floors and a bit of side trip at Cyberzone and the ground floor) after the check-up. On Saturday, I woke up early and literally dragged Ane to join me in Greenhills. We were able to walk around the shopping center four times (or five, Ane thinks). And then in the evening, my family went to ATC to accompany li'l bro, to have dinner for Mom's birthday, and of course to walk. This afternoon, after my nap, I went walking here inside the compound for about 45mins (that includes climbing up and down the 45degrees ramp a lot of times). I would have chosen to walk some more but the neighboring compound started to light up some leaves and I can't risk another allergy attack. I'm tired and bored from walking but I am doing this for me and the baby. So I'm going to walk some more until Baby Dot decides to come out, LOL!

Please continue praying that I will have a normal delivery. I have reasons for not wanting a CS operation (nope, not afraid of going under the knife at all) : 1) Healing takes time. I wanna enjoy my daughter as much as I can, 2) we can use the money for CS for something more important, and 3) my skin has the tendency to turn into keloids. So, prayer warriors, you know what you need to do, LOL!

My weekend has tested me emotionally. And to end this post, I would like to share this, it's all about my roller coaster ride, something that I just wrote a while ago :)

We're ready, she's not :D

Saturday, January 17, 2009

Baby Dot and I are already on our 38th week! Our hospital luggage is ready, all the documents are prepared. But it seems like Dot has other plans! :D She's probably uber comfy in there that we'll prolly reach our 40th week! My OB didn't perform an IE anymore, saying my tummy isn't that hard yet, a sign that I am not contracting yet.

Our check-up yesterday went pretty well. I lost a pound and that's good. We're back on track! Everything is normal and good. Except that I need to get better from this allergy so I can practice the breathing and pushing exercises.

I was able to do some walking in Megamall yesterday and in Galleria today. Of course we were in the malls just after they opened, so no heavy crowds yet, yey! And we were out just before them people swarm the place, LOL!

That's the update for now. I am so so excited to see my princess!! :D

I am really not feeling too well but I need to check whether Fentraphen is better than other brands. Someone wants my opinion on them diet pills, and she needs the answer as soon as possible :)

It has worsened.

I currently have a heavy head and a stuffy nose. It is just another allergy attack, as my OB confirmed yesterday. Poor me. I can't do my exercises because of it. I'm afraid it will turn into a full-blown colds if I force myself to do the breathing and pushing exercises. Neither can I take anti-histamines, for obvious reasons.

I need to get better, really soon.

I am on water-therapy and my Doctor advised that I stay away from fibrous fruits for now. And to also avoid shrimps, crabs and eggs because of the high allergens found in those.

We came home from the supermarket at lunch today (I also did some walking in Galleria) and was welcomed by big shrimps on the table (my MIL sent some last night). I was hungry and totally forgot to eat something else when we were served Menudo and Pinoy Beef Steak too! I just realized this after I have already stuffed myself with about 10 pieces of the shrimps and was full. Tsk.

I took my afternoon nap and was feeling sick more than ever. I'm usually good at watching what I eat, but forgetting something as important disappoints me. Sigh.

When I should be better, I am worse...

What to do with them?

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

I love books. I love the smell of newly purchased books. When I started working in 2001, I started collecting books. My dream is to have my very own library. I used to have a shelf that holds all of them ('Twas overflowing actually) in the old apartment, my room was huge there. When we moved here, my shelf cannot fit the new room anymore, neither can it fit our marital pad. So most of my books are placed in boxes and are now collecting dust in Bulacan. I haven't checked on them recently and I'm afraid they're already musty and old-looking. Sigh. They're my prized-possessions I cannot imagine selling them or giving them away. I just wish they're not yet damaged by the time we have our own place.

Twitter Tag

Got this from Alpha who snagged this from Chikai :)

1. Who invited you to join twitter? No one. I just "followed" Aggie and joined the bandwagon :)

2. How many twitter updates have you made since you signed up? I only have 821 as of this moment.

3. How many direct messages have you received so far? I deleted most of them (I think I received about 10), and I'm keeping 2 at this time.

4. On an average, how many twits do you make a day? 10 or so. There are days, though, that I just lurk (when I'm not really on a chatty mood or I have nothing interesting to say ;))

5. How many followers do you have? 33.

6. How many are you following? 34.

7. Have you ever blocked/denied follow requests? Yup. I've put my profile in private mode so I need to screen who follows me, for obvious reasons :)

8. What did you write in your one line bio? None.

9. Did you even bother to customize your twitter page? I just changed the colors once and never customized again since then.

10. Do you think twitter is cool or is just a waste of time? It’s definitely cool, I'm updated :)

Dot's box is coming soon :)

My sister called me the other day to inform me that she already sent the box with stuff for Baby Dot. It will arrive in a month's time. Although Dot will be out before the box gets here, I'm so excited to see what's inside. I hope she remembered to include some toys with the essentials. I know she bought some Drop-in Liners (it's cheaper to get there) and some teats, a little surprise would also be nice, eh? :)

Random Questions 13

From Chikai :)

1. Get up early or sleep in? I'm "forced" to get up early but I am normally a "sleep-in" kind of girl, LOL!

2. What is your favorite cartoon character? Winnie the Pooh, Mickey and Minnie, and the Looney Tunes gang.

3. Favorite lunch meat? Chicken, the breast part!

4. What do you get every time you go into Wal-Mart? No Wal-Mart in Manila but when in the SUpermarket, Coke Zero (for them) and Gardenia bread.

5. Do you think marriage is an outdated ritual? No, not at all.

6. Favorite movie you wouldn’t want anyone to find out about? I can’t think of any.

7. What’s your drink? Water, Juice and Milk (can't wait until I can drink coffee and Coke again!!)

8. Cowboys or Indians? Cowboys, I think they're cooler :)

9. Cops or Robbers? Cops, definitely.

10. Who from high school would you like to run in to? My Teachers, hehehe...

I hope this is just allergy.

Monday, January 12, 2009

I woke up feeling really sick. Not a nice way to start the week, eh? I probably stressed myself too much yesterday that I was snoring in bed (it's the first time I heard Ane say that I snore, so it must be that noticeable) by 10pm last night. And this morning, I snoozed the alarm one time too many, that I realized it was already 5am! Needless to say, Ane was late for work today.

When Ane left at 530am yesterday, I wasn't able to go back to sleep already. So I went online. When there was nothing else to do, I went down to prepare breakfast for the brothers. Afterwards, I walked outside for about 15minutes, around the pool. The weather was nice but still cold. Then went back inside to do some breathing exercises. I ate breakfast, took my vitamins and drank milk before I prepared for mass. Mass was at 1030am with the brothers. We went home immediately afterwards because the 'rents arrived at the apartment. I was online after lunch, and was hooked on Facebook when I should have been napping. While waiting for Ane to arrive from work, Mom prepared some camote-que and tablea chocolate drink which I could not resist (chocolate = bad for me, might cause migraine. Could also mean Chocolate = extra weight leading to weight loss pills, LOL! But that comes after the delivery of the baby, of course!). I had half a cup of the drink, but it was too sweet for me, I was left with a scratchy throat even if I drank water after. We were off to Shangri-la Mall by 4pm so I could do a bit more walking. We passed by Rustan's Perfume section and that must have been a bad idea. Because I was sneezing and having runny nose in no time. Allergy attack!!!

I was lethargic when we got home, having a really heavy head. I hate being sick. I hope this will go away asap. I was able to practice pushing with Ane's help, though, before going to sleep. Oh and I had a contraction, too! But only once. Maybe I was just really tired.

If you got to the end of this post, thank you for reading my rants. I think I will take it easy today.

Pregnancy Update, 37 weeks.

Saturday, January 10, 2009

We had our weekly check-up yesterday. My OB said Baby Dot is already considered full term and I could be giving birth anytime soon. She just shook her head in disbelief when she realized that I gained 2lbs in 6days! Not good, eh. It would have been good if the weight I gained is mine alone but Dot gained significantly the past week, she's now a seven-pounder! Dr. OB said I should watch what I eat from now on and keep the weight I have (I've gained 26lbs vs. pre-pregnancy weight) if I don't want to have a hard time giving birth. I should put that to heart.

Out of habit, I was still drinking two glasses of milk a day and was shocked that I was advised to just 1 glass a day since last week! Sheesh, I wasn't reading my book!

My OB performed an IE (ouch!). My cervix is still closed and the head is still high. My doctor's other patient, whose EDD is just a day from mine, is already 1cm dilated. I was so envious! I was advised to do some walking, and that I promise to do tomorrow (since I just slept all day today, ugh!). We also did some breathing exercises and some pushing. I need to practice pushing some more so I won't forget. I didn't know there is a technique for that and it's difficult to do, huh.

I had a bit of a bloody show yesterday but Dra. A said I should expect it because of the IE. I still got some today but I am not panicking. She said it's expected and not to worry unless there's trickling already.

I'm still good. I'm more bored than scared. I hope we'll have a good week ahead.

Eating healthy...

That's what I've been doing for the past months. That is, ever since I got pregnant. And the results are showing. I didn't gain more than I should in the duration of this pregnancy (except for the last week, but that's a different post altogether!). I am so thankful that the husband is there to monitor what I eat. I can get really hard-headed some times, you know. And there's also the healthy cooking Mom has been doing to thank for. I'm lucky that I have family to support me in this journey :)

Gifts

I've been given three showers and haven't shared here. The photos aren't from our camera and I'm still too lazy to grab the pics from my friends' sites.

We've been really blessed with good friends who support us. More than the gifts, I appreciate all the tips and lessons I'm learning from them.

Here's a picture of the gifts baby Dot received:

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!! :D

Ps. Notice we received three brands of disposable diapers, heheh. Before these, we already bought another brand. So we have four brands to try and check whether they're okay for Dot or not. Yey!

Not exactly my concern at this time...

Can you believe I slept the entire day today? I fell asleep before 11pm last night and woke up at noon today. We had lunch and before I knew it, I was already in deep slumber (again!) by 230pm and woke up at 6pm. I tell you, it's been a lazy lazy day. I need to really start walking around if I want to be in labor soon. That's my concern at this time. All other things are put aside, like some acne treatment (not that I need it at the moment though, but a friend needs my recommendation!).

I promise that I will walk tomorrow!!! I must walk!!

J's booboo

We got a call this morning from my sister. My nephew Joaquin had a little accident, oh well, not really small. While playing in the school grounds, he accidentally bumped his head on something, causing a big wound on his forehead up to his nose. He was so brave he didn't cry. The school called my sister from work and she had to rush to him. He only cried when he saw his mom, maybe thinking it could be this serious since Mommy had to run to him.

At the hospital, the doctor had him stitched, fifteen of them! Yes, the wound was that big and deep! Poor kid, tsk tsk. He's back to his old self now. Even jokes that he is now Scarface :) The doctor only told them that if ever he pukes, they should bring him back to the hospital right away.

Sigh. I hope there won't be long term scars that will stay on his muy guapo face...

Shopping itch.

Friday, January 09, 2009

I am having it at the moment. I so wanna go shopping. I am done buying loots for Baby Dot, though. I have stuff in mind for myself and Ane (he wants a new videocard for his PC!), but yes we're saving at the moment so we're rethinking our (soon-to-be) purchases. So I'm down to window-shopping. LOL! I need to go walking, honestly, but since I can't at the moment, I'm browsing the net, hehe.

In times like this, I would rather look at stuff that I can put and use around the house. Maybe, it's something I got from my mom, who gets "hypnotized" when left alone in the home section of any department store! :) Last time we were at Gourdo's she was looking at pepper mills and I found this Blomus Stainless Steel Pepper Mill really nice:And this Blomus Stainless Steel Kitchen Multi-Storage will be helpful in the kitchen too :) :

I want this Blomus Stainless Steel Hand Magnet Set, too, only because our refrigerator cannot have enough magnets, LOL! Love the colors!
Yey, done 'shopping' for today. Gotta go prepare the table for dinner! :) Ciao!

Heaven's surprise :)

Tuesday, January 06, 2009

God really has a way of surprising us.

The series of events:
Mom received a blouse in a paper bag last Christmas.
She's worn the blouse and put aside the paper bag.
The paper bag laid on the living area center table for so long.

Until my brother tossed it inside the ward's room because he had friends coming over (ward was on vacation at the province at this time).
Last night, Mom cooked some Paksiw na Pata, my hubby's favorite.
Ane chose to bring some to work for his lunch today.
Since I had to put the viand in another container, everything won't fit in his bag.
So I had to find a nice paper bag to put his baon in.
And I found the paper bag that was nearly forgotten. It's red, by the way.
I checked it inside-out and tried to take out the tag.
There inside, stapled near the handles, a red angpao!
And had money, naturally.
The blouse actually came with money!
Mom did not see it right away.
Now we have cash to pay off the electricity bill, heheh.

God is good :)

Random Questions (#12)

Got this from Zanne (she got it from Chikai :)) Maybe I should answer the rest as well, hehe. We'll see.

1. What payment do you hate paying the most? Credit card bills, hehe...
2. Where was the last place you had a romantic dinner? Aioli, a very long time ago. We rarely go out on dinner dates eh.
3. If you could go back and change one thing what would it be? I could have studied harder hehe.
4. Name of your first grade teacher? Mrs. Faustino.
5. What do you really want to be doing right now? Snuggle in bed but I have to wash some of Dot's things and Ane is at work. heheh
6. What did you want to be when you grew up? A mom, seriously.
7. Why did you choose the shirt that you have on right now? It's comfortable :D
8. What are your thoughts on gas prices?
9. First thought when the alarm went off this morning? Already?!?!? (Kulang sa tulog eh hehehe)
10. Do you miss being a child? Yes, I miss not having to worry too much.

Jewelry!

I love jewelry! It just does not show because I do not wear much on a regular basis. But when I am at an event, surely, I wear my pieces. I do not have much left after I lost almost all that I own. But I am hoping I can have extra moolah to start collecting again. I'm a fan of real ones but since times are hard at this point, maybe I can start using just the "real-looking" ones first, hehe. I found some Discount Jewelry, fancy ones, at this site and they definitely have pieces that are eye-candy. They have different designs that will match every outfit and I believe their designs are updated too. Don't you just love this necklace and pendant I saw in the site? Wow! And it's cheap, too :)

We will own an Outlander by 20 January :)

That's me thinking positive :)

Yesterday, we accompanied my Mom to do some grocery shopping at Landmark Trinoma. And we got stubs for their promo. They're giving away some Lancers and Outlanders. Mom told me to join instead of putting her name. There's a saying that pregnant women are lucky, ayt? And when (that's a 'when' not an 'if', LOL!) we win, that will be her gift to Baby Dot :)

So I am claiming it, it's now up to Him if we're worthy. I even put the stubs under my pillow, LOL!

Tokwa, in memory of...

As children, we never really took having pets seriously (plus the fact that we were asthmatic as kids). That's until someone gave us Keisuke, a shih-tzu (he's two years old now!). We're converts now! We feel sad when we see news of dogs being transported somewhere in a cramped vehicle, hind legs and mouths tied. And feel happy when they're being rescued. You get the picture.

So it came as a shocker when we found out that the neighbor's dog, Tokwa suddenly collapsed while doing her morning walk and died on December 30. She was 8 years old. Keisuke just lost a playmate. So sad. And I can't imagine how I would feel if Kei passes on...I'll probably wouldn't want another pet ever...

Moving out...

We currently have weird living arrangements. When Hubby has work, we stay with my brothers in the QC apartment (it's more practical, we save on gas, time, effort and money :)). During his days-off, you will find us at 'home'...that's our studio type pad above my in-laws in Malabon. So we shuffle our things here and there. It gets tiring but I somehow got used to it already. I just don't know if I can keep my sanity once the baby arrives, LOL!

We do have plans of moving out, eventually, but not in the very near future. Of course, I want to settle down and be really on our own. For now we only get to dream and look at House Plans. I found this site that offers within the budget and so far I am liking what I see. They have Country House Plans and log home floor plans. But foe our dream house, I'm thinking of an Asian-inspired house :)

Back to routine...

Monday, January 05, 2009

It's the first Monday of the year 2009 and I'm back to my morning routine :) Woke up earlier than usual (before 430am!), because I felt the urge to pee, LOL! Ane went back to work yesterday but my routine officially starts today only since he allowed me to sleep longer yesterday. Bless him! I'm still sleepy now but I'm trying to stay awake until about 10am. I'm scrapping some pages, you know, so I can have a photobook printed soon. I now have about 8 pages done, 4 of which I finished during the long break. That's productive, eh? Considering I average about 1 page in two months, LOL!

I went to my OB last Saturday. I'm officially 36 4/7 weeks today. That visit prompted me to panic! Doctora said she will already perform an IE on my next visit on Friday so that means I will give birth anytime soon! She even gave me the admission instructions slip already! I'm ready to give birth, I'm not even afraid of the pain. What worries me more is the fact that I'm not done preparing stuff! :D

Here's my to-do list for this week, in no particular order:

1. Wash Baby Dot's crib sheets and some recent purchases. I scheduled to do it today but the ward isn't back from her extended vacation yet (argh!) so there's no one to assist me.
2. Iron Baby Dot's clothes.
3. Wash and sterilize the bottles and nipples.
4. Prepare Ane's hospital bag.
5. Prepare a list of "bilins" for Ane for while I'm in labor.
6. Buy some more stuff for the baby, I made the list yesterday.
7. Pay the PCCI annual fee.
8. Bring the carseat to a shop for re-upholstery.
9. Scrap!!!
10. Do breathing exercises.
11. Practice pushing.

I'm sure this week will just pass like a breeze 'coz I'll be busy :) Have a great week, you all!!! :)

Reason to buy?

Saturday, January 03, 2009

I obviously gained weight because of the pregnancy. I gained about 25lbs from pre-pregnancy. So all that weight is carried by my feet especially when I'm standing up and doing chores. I think I am suffering from Plantar Fasciitis, or in layman's -- the painful foot condition in the heel and arch area. My twitter friends (hi ladies!) were once discussing this condition and they mentioned about getting a pair of shoes that has a bit of heels. Now that got me thinking. I'm always wearing flats (hey, I always wear just flip-flops, not even shoes! LOL!), you see. Is this a new reason to buy something for myself?!?! I guess I'll have to think about it first, heheh. I'm due anytime soon and my goal is to lose all that extra pounds right away.

Speaking of being due anytime soon, my weekly visit to the OB started today. I'm 36 weeks far along and everything seems okay. I'll get back to post some more Baby Dot updates later :) My connection is acting up, I'd rather scrap for now (for the photobook I'm planning to have printed!) :)

TTFN!

A fresh year is here...

Thursday, January 01, 2009

I'm still on a Holiday mode so I still cannot come up with more personal posts, LOL! So much happened after Christmas! I was, however, able to look back a bit, think and share what I am thankful for for the year that was. Click here to read all about it. How about you, what are you thankful for? I think it is the best time to sit down and recollect for a few minutes.
