Teck or teak

Tuesday, September 25, 2007

While resting between games tonight, I was chatting with Donna. She was sharing how packed their Sunday was (and I thought ours was too busy!). They were somewhere in Olongapo, after their errand, when they decided to check on some furniture for their new home. In the second store that they went to, they found this nice piece that suits their taste. The salesman told them that it was made from "Teck wood". My dear friend got confused and asked again. She heard it right when the man said, "teck wood, from teck". Later in the car, her husband got this lightbulb flashing in his head and blurted, "Oh the man meant to say TEAK!". And they laughed. :)

Speaking of teak, I found some teak outdoor furniture on the web that is perfect for our balcony. Hhhmmmm, if only we have the budget to have the whole area roofed...it's perfect for inviting friends over.

Funny find!

Found this in JZ's blog, mwehehehehehe:

"From the Department of Linguistics, Bahay Kubo in gayspeak.

Valer kuberch, kahit jutay
Ang julamantrax donchi ay anek-anek.
Nyongkamas at nutring, nyogarilyas at kipay
Nyitaw, nyotaw, jutani.
Kundol, jutola, jupot jolabastrax
At mega join-join pa, jobanox nyustasa.
Nyubuyax, nyomatis, nyowang at luyax
And around the keme ay fulnes ng linga."

A tag, a new blog for money opportunity and a funny video

Mami Carmie tagged me :) I am to list 6 weird things about me (although, she did 7 in her blog mwehehehe). Here goes:
  1. I have a very high tolerance for pain and heat. I take hot baths at noon and can sleep with comforter & closed windows even during summer;
  2. I am very Filipino but I don't like eating Adobo or anything that is cooked with vinegar;
  3. I can be so OC and paranoid about a lot of things. One time I felt sooo bad when someone "took" our regular bench at GHBC for two consecutive Saturdays...I had to do something about it on the third Saturday. I also have a thing for scrubbing things (plates, pots & pans, sink, the toilet..etc etc);
  4. I am calm when my voice is very clear, sometimes too loud (because of the hearing problem) but when I am mad, I am usually low-voiced;
  5. I do not feel complete if I don't have a pen in my bag (forget the mobile phone, or the license, but not the pen!);
  6. I eat Pakwan (watermelon) with Patis (fish sauce). Yum! Try it! :)

There. :) I don't know whom to tag anymore so if you are reading this and haven't done this yet...I am tagging YOU!

Moving on, I signed up for another blog-for-money site, Blogsvertise, this afternoon. As you must know by now, I am making some extra money just by blogging about certain advertisers. Blogsvertise falls in that category. I have already registered and I am just waiting for their approval. Once approved, I will be assigned to mention, talk about or incorporate certain advertisers in my blog entries. I do not need to endorse anything. Including links to the advertisers' website is usually enough. After the entry is posted, it shall be approved and all I do next is wait for the payment via Paypal. :)

It's 11pm already and I should be getting ready for bed. (I've been sleeping late the past few days!) But before I go, lemme share this very funny video sent by RL via email:

Have a good night!

I never knew

that it could be this emotionally draining and stressful on this side of the world. Don't get me wrong, though. I am having quite a good time experiencing a lot of new things and I enjoy being with Joaquin but there are things I can't seem to run away from. Sigh. I must be PMSing. Sheesh.

Anyway, on to more positive things...

I played Badminton today. Yup after about 5months of not holding my racquet, I decided to join Ane, Gi and Kuya Jun. I did pretty well but not better. I think I even got worse than the last time I played! Hehe. I stretched a little and am glad my body is okay eventhough I did a lot of running ang bending and jumping. Good luck to me when tomorrow comes. Ane said I should prepare myself, hehe. Maybe I should take Ibuprofen before I sleep eh?

So yeah, we went to Fremont again because that's where United Badminton Court is located. But before that, we visited the bookstore once again. Ane gave me permission to buy a CK Scrapbooking ideabook which costs $5.98 (original price is $16.95). Oh yeah! Happy me c")

Before we played, we grabbed a bite at In-N-Out (again!) and it was so funny Kuya Jun had the guts to ask about their "Secret Menu"! Hihihi. The girl on the counter was giving him the "look" and blankly told him that there is no such thing because their entire menu is posted in their website. Go google it hehe.

The rest of the day was spent like this: after the games, we went to Costco to buy some things, dropped by a model townhouse unit my sister is hoping for, went home, steamed some clothes, picked Joaquin from school, dinner at home courtesy of Mom (yeah, both she and Dad arrived on Sunday), went out to check out this store where clothes are cheap, drove thru Jack-in-the-Box for some snacks, and then home again.

Tomorrow will be busy because it's Ate's Deparmental Graduation. :)

Before I end this, lemme share with you Joaquin's Prayer before meals (read til the end, you will be as surprised as we are, I was able to record it but I cannot play it in the computer, duh):

"God is good.
God is great.
Thank you Lord, for our Food.
Amen.
Praise the Lord!
Don't give up!"

:) Night everyone!
