How old is he again? (and my pancit story)

Monday, July 28, 2008

This is what my mother in-law asked me when I told her if we can maybe prepare pancit or spaghetti for Ane's birthday. Hehe. She's forgetful...Hubby is an only kid! :)

My better half turned 31 on July 14. We just stayed home the entire day. MIL and I weren't able to cook anymore. And then we had dinner with my brothers at Burgoo Rockwell using some of my blogging money. That's it. No gifts hehehe. We need to save badly.

And then on July 16, we brought food to the courts so we can share it with some of our friends. We initially planned to serve Buddy's Pansit and Pichi-pichi from Arny and Dadings's. Buddy's is in Pasig and delivers to Greenhills minimum of P1000. Since they have nothing else to offer and P1000 is too much for pancit alone, we decided to look somewhere else. Before looking, we drove to A&D's in Katipunan, but we came later in the afternoon, they only had 12pieces left. I was craving pichi-pichi so we bought twelve pieces and enjoyed it while we think of another place to get Pancit. Then I remembered a post by Donna -- they buy their pancit from Orchids Motel in Pasig, hehehe. So we called the place and realized that they also offer BBQ. There we were on a bed-weather late afternoon driving through a motel, LOL! The bellboys readily pointed us to a garage and we just had to wave them off. I opened my window to ask where we can order pancit hehe. We ordered two kinds, Pancit Sotanghon and Pancit Bihon good for 5-7 pax, P450 each. It's kinda steep but when we saw the bilao, one can serve 10 or more pax! Super sulit! And they're yummy too. I liked the Bihon better though. The toppings include fried chicken! Their BBQ is a different story altogether. For P160 and only three sticks, we found it too expensive, so we bought two jumbo lechon manok from Andok's instead.

We waited more than 30 minutes for the pancit and enjoyed "sight-seeing", hehe. I tell yah, cars and cabs come and go, I realized having a motel for business is lucrative, LOL! If you aren't too bold to drive through inside, they deliver in Pasig area for free. If you're not working or living in Pasig, you may call ahead and pick it up outside (Orchids Tel 9100164 or 6712233).

Anyway, even if there was no big bang on Ane's birthday, we are still thankful that we are so blessed in many other ways. Belated Happy Birthday, Hun. I love you! ;)

Finally a new ID :)

It's not that I am ashamed of using my husband's surname but after two years, I got my driver's license renewed with my new name on it :) Although I renewed it in March, I only claimed it two weeks ago since I applied at a branch. They had to process it in the main office. I knew I should have gone to East Avenue instead, but you know me -- I just hate dealing with government offices so I opted to go to a nearer and less populated office, hehe. It took me this long because I waited for the expiration of the old card, not wanting to go through extra hassle when I can wait, ayt?

So yes, this is the only government issued ID I have that has my married name printed on it! And yes, I always bring an NSO copy of our Marriage certificate to support my old ID's hehe. Even my passport has my maiden name on it since I had it replaced in May 2006 after it was stolen. I was too afraid to wait for July to come before I had it replaced or I risk having a stranger use my identity. My tax, SS and Philhealth details are updated though, I just haven't had the ID's changed :)

Broken promise

And I thought I was over the laziness!! LOL! I said I had so many things to say but I was virtually gone after the halfway there round-up (which took me hours to finish!). So while I'm going over authorize.net, I will tell you what I've been up to. Talk about multi-tasking, LOL!

Hubby and I have been spending Sundays with my family at my parents'. And then we're in Malabon from Sunday night until Wednesday after lunch (he has games Wednesday nights). I'm practically left alone at home on Mondays (like today), when hubby goes to work and my mother in-law supplies me food, how convenient, heheh. When we're here, I have very limited 'puter time since hubby hogs the pc playing Cabal. He'll be home in about two hours, so my time is almost up. My Ivy stays with my brother since he still hasn't replaced his conked-out laptop. We're back in QC on W's and I stay there until Friday when I wait for Hubby to be off from work, then I attend Rotary meetings on Friday nights in Bulacan and spend the night in Malabon. We leave very early on Saturdays for H's work, and then night-outs with friends after their games. And then Sundays start the same routine for the week.

I have so much idle time it seems but when in QC, I'm too lazy to get Ivy from brother's room where she sleeps so I entertain myself with the TV (too much I'd say, can't blame me, we don't have cable in Malabon!). I get to watch DVD's too -- latest movies: The Kite Runner (which made me cry!) and 27 Dresses. I also read and am so into the Twilight series (go Team Edward!) and I'm almost done with book 2, New Moon. G's friend Tin lent me all three books and the final one is going to be out in August. I wonder who can lend me a copy right away! Can't wait!

More stories to share, coming up! :)

Aggie Wants to Know #3: Halfway There.

Thursday, July 17, 2008

How’d your first six months go? And what are you looking forward to the next six months?

Aggie says:
I figured that a half-year roundup will do all of us good - it will make things easier by December when we do a lookback, right? Here’s what I did, I posted my roundup month per month, with an equivalent word (I planned this for scrapping year end month to month memories), and posted some highlights per month (your blog will come in handy here). If it’s too tedious for you, you can just list some memorable things/ accomplishments/ disappointments that you remember or do the survery I snagged from Glo (which you can see below - Im a sucker for these things I did it as well). If you have your Things To Look Forward To or resolutions from last January, link that as well. At the end of your post, please tell me what are the things you look forward to with the remaining months of the year (Masyado atang kumplikado to no? Hehehe - You will thank me for this!)

Me says: This really looks tedious but a great way to preserve memories. I've been slacking on blogging (and scrapping!) that I just knew I had to do this for ME :) In January, I joined the Kaya Challenge and came up with this. I didn't make resolutions nor forecasts but I had these three wishes in mind during that time (with notes/updates beside each):
  1. Buy a DSLR and lens (and go to photography school) -- We got the camera in February in time for the Hot Air Balloon Festival and we also have the 55-200mm lens! Photography school will have to wait. CSB-ASD Associate in Photography cost around P120k for four terms (three regular terms and a summer).
  2. Travel once abroad and at least twice locally -- No trips abroad this year! Been to Clark in February. Not sure if i can still travel in the next few months.
  3. Get Pregnant! -- We're twelve weeks on the way!
I was tagged at the beginning of the year to list my resolutions but really, I tend to break them anyway but I wrote these anyway: I promise myself I'd be more happy, more productive, more patient, more content and a better person this year.

Since my EDD is January 31, I expect that we'll be busy preparing for the coming of the baby for the rest of the year. And I expect it to be a lot a fun! :)

Maybe I am pshyched that I am already at the start of my week 12 (so a week 11 update is in order) because books and online resources say that pregnant women passing their first trimester get re-energized.

***And Lara complains I'm updating less frequently, nasisira daw ang morning ritual nya kapag walang bagong binabasa, LOL!!

Some notes (some blog prompts, too):
  1. Congrats to one happy girl who is in the gym right now after receiving her Passport from Delbros with her H1B Visa! (Also with the news that her friend, one of our prayer warriors too, is two weeks pregnant after their IVF sessions. We hope she's carrying twins!)
  2. Ane's birthday on Monday and last night's treat (more like I wanna share where we got the pancit!).
  3. OB checkup on Tuesday :)
  4. Share in my playground my latest digiscrap loot courtesy of Aggie's GC and two layouts that are long overdue for sharing!
  5. Do a mala-nobelang entry to answer Aggie's WTK 3, this will help me remember the events of the past half year (before we know it it's already Christmas!!!)
  6. I wanna scrap! I have so many ideas in mind but I just dunno how to put them all together! And I wanna finish our wedding album badly...
Madami pa, kaya lang pag sinulat ko pa lahat dito baka lalo akng tamarin! LOL!

Hubby became a Millionaire in two weeks...

Wednesday, July 16, 2008

He's a virtual millionaire, that is! LOL! He recently discovered a new online game that has been keeping him busy at nights and during his days-off. {Yeah, I've been a neglected wifey, huhuhu} He now has virtual money to buy clothes, accessories and weapons. Oh how I wish that's real money, LOL! And how I wish it's that easy to earn money! Then we wouldn't be needing mortgage lenders at all. Our economy is really crazy nowadays. I wonder how the minimum and below-minimum wage earners can even survive a day. I hope the "crisis" we are going through right now will be alleviated soon.

For now, I can do nothing but allow hubby to play and play and earn his virtual bucks! But he has to accept too that I'll be nagging him if he continues to stay up late every night, LOL!

Yen's QOTW

Been a while since I last joined...

1. How was your day yesterday? -- Katuwa :) We saw Baby Dot at 11 weeks 5 days, and is actively moving inside. The moment erased all my worries. We just stayed home the rest of the day after the checkup (oh! we went out for a while in the afternoon, I was craving KFC chicken and mashed potatoes, hehe)

2. Who do you dislike most? People who are so dull to talk to, people who don’t recognize your talent, or people who are better looking than you? -- People who are dull to talk to...someone who can't express him/herself even if you've given prompts.

3. When you we’re still single or if you’re single, do you tend to date people younger or older than you? -- uh-hmmm, both. I kept my options open then.

4. Do you have any fears, phobias, or concerns about doctors? -- Phobia or fear, not exactly. My concern usually is whether a doctor can actually attend to my needs the right way. It is also important that I have good rapport with the doctor that takes care of me.

5. What five things that you have done in life that you are most proud of? -- Not failing in school; finishing school; not screwing my life during younger years; living the values instilled in me; marrying my best friend. :)

6. Are you an optimist, pessimist, or realist? Explain. -- I'm more of an idealist that makes me a bit pessimistic at times. It's kinda hard to explain without giving lots of examples so I'll leave it at that.

7. Which is worse, seeing someone chewing their fingernails or picking their nose? -- the second one.

8. Would you rather kiss a stranger or someone you hate? -- I'd rather kiss someone I hate coz that probably means we're already okay ;)

9. Would you rather be lost at sea or in a desert? Why? -- In a desert. I don't wanna die bloated plus I dunno how to swim! LOL!

10.Would you rather speak with God for one minute or add one year to your life? -- Converse with God :)

Our Journey

Saturday, July 05, 2008

**long entry ahead, was not able to check for errors anymore, heheh

First of all I would like to thank everyone who left me messages in my comments, chatbox, flickr, twitter, those who texted and called just to congratulate us :) I won't mention names anymore, might forget some peeps, eh :)

I'm on my Ninth Week (going on Tenth) and it's been easy so far. It scares me that I still feel normal (except for the sleepiness) but others say I'm lucky I don't get nauseous and I don't vomit. I also don't have any cravings...at least I don't crave those that are hard to find. I'm pretty easy to please. I just really wish time will fly a bit faster so I can feel Baby Dot already moving inside me.

Our long journey started in August 2007 when we decided to seek help from an OB. We were married for a year and was kinda anxious why we haven't conceived yet. See, when we got married, we already wanted to bear kids -- no more waiting period... no enjoying each other period. We weren't getting any younger. Before August, I decided to stop talking about our frustrations after I got really disappointed month after month after month. The last straw was when I was delayed for 43 days during our US trip and got my period on our plane ride home. We were hoping we had good news to tell our family and friends after we were gone for two months.

Back to our work-up. I had to endure the many blood tests that my OB, Dra. Alfiler required (I was bruised on the arms after that!) and we found out that I was healthy and ready to conceive. Except that I have bilateral polycystic ovaries condition and that Hubby has problems with his bugoys too. But my OB assured us that there is nothing to worry about and that our problem is minimal compared to other TTC couples. Timing is the only key. She had me started with Folart and then sets of Duphaston, Clomid and Pregnyl injectable (not everything every month). And then I had to go visit her at a certain week, at least three times a week for follicle monitoring to check whether I was ovulating and whether the egg is about to burst (then she instructs us to have contact). Imagine how invasive (to privacy) that can be! I was being "poked" down there a few times a month and we are told when to do "it". It was all too mechanical.

Around January, my OB prescribed me with Metformin that worked pretty much for me, in terms of having my period regularly at 28 days.

While all this was happening, a Urologist mis-prescribed Hubby in August with an injectable, that caused a worse SA result after three months (two other doctors confirmed that it was a wrong prescription!). So we wasted precious time and money. The second Uro told us to wait another three months until his body has fully flushed out the wrong med and then have another go at SA. The second Uro wasn't a charmer so I told our OB to refer us to another one. We were told to go see an Assisted Reproduction Doctor in MedCity who treats both men and women.

We put off going to the new doctor until my OB scheduled an HSSG around first week of April. It was a pretty nerve-wracking procedure and I was in pain for a few hours (but was able visit Mami Carms and Donna at their office and to go malling afterwards with Mae! LOL!). The HSSG result yielded that both my fallopian tubes aren't blocked and that my OB was able to cleanse my tubes a bit.

A few days after, we scheduled the visit to Dr. Ancheta, we hit it off well with him right away! :) He had me stop with Metformin until I'm done with another blood test (results said I have an elevated level of insulin and I was scheduled to slowly get back on Metfromin, these were just texted to me as I never got the chance to go back to his clinic). He also had Hubby undergo some blood tests and another SA. With our condition, Doc A explained that we will have to do unassisted trial to conceive for three cycles and then when nothing happens, we can talk about Artificial Insemination. That was the last time I talked to him. My LMP was April 24. Later, when my OB told Doc A we were already pregnant just after talking to him, he mused saying "Sto. Nino yata ako, pinapahiran lang ng panyo ng gusto mabuntis, nabubuntis na!" :)

About two and a half weeks after my LMP we started with our novena to the three Patrons of Obando -- Saint Pascual, Saint Claire and Our Lady of Salambao. We also offered novena to Our Lady of La Leche and St. Therese of the Child Jesus at the same time. For nine days, we attended the everyday masses, prayed and glorified God through the intercession of the the said Saints. We also asked our friends (and my dear blog readers) to pray with us. I felt I was ovulating at this time (I refused to believe I was PMSing, heheh). As you all know by now, we also joined the three-day dance and praise festival in Obando. You may want to read my account in a previous post :)

Day 28 came after April 24 and I still didn't get my period. I was anxious to buy a home test but Ane asked that we wait a little longer, until my Day 40. I tested on Day 30 without Hubby's knowledge of course, it was negative. So I vowed to wait a little longer. By this time, I was talking to some of my girl friends already and we were all excited for day 40 to arrive. My brother Ry also knew I was already delayed. I didn't tell anybody though that I tested again on Day 36 (yeah!) and got a very very faint second line. My hope was high and I was smiling for the next days!!! On June 2, my Day40 at 1am, I still could not sleep so I decided to test! Positive! I didn't wake Hubby anymore as I'm sure he'll just get mad at me for waking him up since we were scheduled to be up by 5am. I placed the test result to an area where he can see it right away. But he missed it! When the alarm went off, I was smiling and then he went on fixing himself. When I didn't lock myself in the bathroom, he got suspicious:

Him: Akala ko magtetest ka? (I thought you're gonna use the home test?)
Me: Tapos na! (I already did!)
Him: Eh ano result? (So what's the result?)
Me: *smiling from ear to ear while brushing my teeth* Didn't you see it?
Him: Nakita. Eh ano ba ibig sabihin neto? (I saw it, but what does it mean?)
Me: Positive kaya!!!
Him: Ooowwwwsss?!? Hhehehehehehehehe *smiling the whole day!!!!*
Me: Sabihin natin sa Mom mo? (Let's tell your mom?)
Him: Wag muna, antay natin sabihin ni Doc (Let's wait first for what the doctor has to say)

Needless to say, we went to see my OB the next day :) It was ascertained I was at the early stage of pregnancy and was advised to keep it to ourselves until we are able to see the heartbeat in two weeks time. We met Baby Dot that day on the U/S monitor :) I also started reading books (thanks Mami Carms for lending me your book) and online articles. A couple of girl friends knew about Baby Dot and I also told my brothers since they will notice the change in my eating and drinking habits.

Two weeks after, on June 17, we went back to my OB and that's when we saw the heartbeat! Awwwww! :) I was 7 days and 5 days pregnant and EDD is Jan 31. The minute we left the clinic, I called my parents and then Hubby called his. We wanted them to know first before we announce it to our friends. Everyone was so excited for us. It's about time, we waited for this moment for almost two years!

This Baby is a real blessing and a miracle. I'm thankful that Dot isn't giving me a hard time (I wish it'd stay this way until I'm done! I can't help but be scared sometimes 'coz I dunno what's going on inside me, I can't wait to start showing and feel the movement to feel that I am indeed pregnant, this is certainly God's gift. And I'm claiming it is His plan for Dot to be born and grow up :)

We're financially worried these days as a big chunk of our savings was eaten by the work-up expenses but we believe that God is a great provider, we just have to do our part and save save save some more :)

Week Nine updates from BabyCenter:

How your baby's growing:

Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain.

How your life's changing:

You still may not look pregnant even if your waist is thickening a bit. You probably feel pregnant, though. Not only are morning sickness and other physical symptoms out in full force for most women, but you may feel like an emotional pinball as well.

Mood swings are common now — it's perfectly normal to feel alternately elated and terrified about becoming a parent. Try to cut yourself some slack. Most women find that moodiness flares up at around six to ten weeks, eases up in the second trimester, and then reappears as pregnancy winds to a close.

I've been really really lazy and negligent. I was twitting the other day and I wrote there that, these days, I am asleep 70% of the day. No kidding! I don't even know how I can do that! Baby Dot is as sleepyhead as his/her Nanay!!

Anyway, days passed and I was never able to blog about our Anniversary as Husband and Wife! That deserves a post, noh? So yeah, we celebrated our second anniversary on July 1. I would have checked on the best flight deals so we could have a little getaway but my condition didn't permit that (more like the budget didn't permit a getaway, heheh).

We attended the 6am (!) mass at the church where we got married, Our Lady of Consolation in Tandang Sora. I think it's gonna be an annual trip to that church starting this year (we were away last year). We were kinda surprised that the parish cut down some trees in front of the church to make way to more parking slots. Sigh. And then we braved the Katipunan morning traffic and had a buffet breakfast at Seven Corners in Crowne Galleria. I was ready to pig-out and consider July 1 as a cheat day when I realized Baby Dot and I weren't that hungry! Imagine hubby's face when I told him I can't maximize the breakfast cost, LOL! Don't get me wrong, the food was okay...but after salad and cereals, I was full! I tried to eat more but was not able to try everything.

That's about it. The rest of the day was uneventful (I was asleep from 10am to 530pm, totally skipping lunch!). We didn't give each other gifts anymore as we are saving for the baby's arrival :)
